Every pianist, musician, passionate listener knows the Etudes by Frederick Chopin, maybe 99% of them even knows the paraphrases or the re-compositions on these Etudes by great pianists of the past. Now is the right moment to enlarge the horizon: Sergio Baietta is there! The italian pianist composed his own versions of the Etudes by Chopin in the tradition of the great pianists of the past but with a modern sight, a wonderful light touch and a great taste. Under the guidance of Roberto Prosseda, his teacher and mentor as well as producer of this project, Baietta composes his own re-compositions on the Etudes, finding inspiration everywhere in the musical world.

Roberto Prosseda presents the work of Sergio Baietta with these words "...In this new album, the pianist and composer Sergio Baietta presents an unprecedented concept: that of ‘grafting’ into Chopin’s incomparable piano writing some ‘extraneous’ elements, which, however, as happens in every successful grafting, harmonize perfectly with Chopin’s music. It sounds new and different, but also perfectly natural.
Sergio Baietta plays with our store of musical memories. From the mesh of Chopin’s pianism, he brings out fragments of other melodies that belong to our listening heritage. It is not so important to be able to grasp all the more or less concealed quotations that Baietta disseminates in his Etudes d'après Chopin, but it is worth letting oneself be transported in the perceptive short-circuits into which he leads us. And he does so as a true virtuoso of the piano, since it is he himself who performs the 24 Etudes, demonstrating a command and pianistic naturalness equal to his compositional inventiveness..."
