"Sublime Ingegno" Selected for the Prestigious German Record Critics' Award 2025 Longlist
We are delighted to announce that our album "Sublime Ingegno," featuring Josquin Desprez's extraordinary "Missa l'homme armé super voces musicales," has been selected for the Q2 2025 longlist of the prestigious German Record Critics' Award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik - PdSK).
This selection represents an important acknowledgment of the meticulous work and artistic dedication that characterized the realization of this project devoted to one of the masterpieces of Renaissance music.
The German Record Critics' Award is one of the most respected institutions in the European musical landscape. Founded in 1963, the PdSK brings together music critics and journalists from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland who evaluate new record releases in every musical genre with rigorous independence.
The association, which includes up to 160 jurors divided into 32 specialized juries, covers the entire spectrum of musical production: from symphonic music to opera, from jazz to folklore, from metal to hip-hop. The quarterly selection process ensures that only productions of excellence receive this coveted recognition.
Josquin Desprez's "Missa l'homme armé" is considered one of the most significant works of sacred polyphony: we are proud to have decided to have this masterpiece in our catalogue and its inclusion in this prestigious list testifies to the quality of interpretation offered by our musicians.
The "Missa l'homme armé super voces musicales" is considered one of the most emblematic works of Josquin Desprez (1450-1521), the undisputed master of Renaissance polyphony. This work represents a perfect example of his extraordinary ability to weave complex vocal lines into a harmonious and profound ensemble. The mastery with which Desprez combines compositional technique and deep emotional expressiveness has influenced generations of subsequent composers, making this work a landmark in the history of Western music.
This recognition would not have been possible without the talent and dedication of the extraordinary musicians who brought this recording to life: Walter Testolin and the vocal ensemble De Labyrintho.
The Q2 2025 longlist represents an initial selection phase. We eagerly await the jury's results to know whether "Sublime Ingegno" will be included in the prestigious "Quarterly Critic's Choice," a further recognition that would confirm the artistic and cultural value of this project.
